PLEASE NOTE:

  • WE DO NOT TAKE IN OR RE-HOME ANY BIRDS OTHER THAN "SPENT" EX-COMMERCIAL EGG-LAYING HENS, WHEN PLANNED. We simply don't have the resources.

  • WE ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE TRANSPORT AND WE NEVER SHIP BIRDS. No matter where you're located, you will be responsible for making arrangements to pick your hens up from ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.​

  • Because we're an all-volunteer organization, it could take some time to receive a response via e-mail. Phone conversations are our preferred method-of-communication (at least initially) so we can answer your questions in a timely manner. They're also much easier to work into our schedules!

If you are reaching out because you need to re-home any type of bird or other animal, we are unable to assist due to lack of resources. As it states in multiple places on our website (which we trust you've taken the time to peruse before contacting us): Second-Hen'd is not a rescue or sanctuary, and we have a very specific focus of re-homing ex-caged commercial egg-laying hens that otherwise face slaughter.
